Neno's story is a rather sad one; a story most couldn't bare to hear. But it is who he is, and will explain some of his behavior in roleplay. Here is how he came to be,
Neno scrambled up the rocks of the volcano's slope, waving his tail behind him, trying to rub his gain on Joen. A smile was plastered to his muzzle as he paused, turning to gaze over his shoulder back at the older wolf.
"Joen, bet you'll never catch up!" he teased, though the gray kitten had a point. Joen didn't look concerned about winning-- she was going very slow, even her jumps as she climbed were slow. But Neno didn't dare stay put for any longer, darting up the rocks and kicking pebbles back at the wolf.
Neno laughed happily as he reached the top, panting heavily. He looked behind him, to find Joen was only half-way up. *This is going to take a while,* he thought, turning back towards the opening in the mountain. He stared down, wondering what it was like for the bats that had to live in the searing heat all the time. He flicked his ear, lost in his own thoughts, before laying down on his belly and waiting for Joen to catch up to him.
He was jolted awake as he was suddenly shoved towards the opening, hissing and darting around to face whoever had shoved. him.
"I wasn't asleep!" he yowled, softening his gaze as he found it was only Joen. "Oh, sorry Joen! I thought you were a bear trying to shove me in!"
Joen seemed particularly entertained by that thought, and let out a harsh laugh. "Dear, why would you think that?"
"Uhh, I don't know. You just startled me."
Joen playfully shoved against him, but a little too rough for being on the top of an inactive volcano. He laughed, shoving back. But she just pushed him back again, rougher. "Joen, don't push me off!" he teased, pawing at her chest fluff.
Again, Joen let out that unpleasantly harsh laugh, almost sounding fake. "Now tell me, why would I shove you off?"
"Mama said that the wolves don't trust us cats anymore, but Papa doesn't believe you'd ever do anything to me. I never really liked Papa. . ."
Joen looked offended, almost defensive. "You should listen to your father, little one. Your mother is just being overprotective, you know I'd never hurt you."
"I don't believe you."
Joen must have gotten angry, because she got right up in Neno's face this time. "Listen here, you little brat. You're mother is a liar, you cats are too suspicious of us wolves because the dogs chase you in the city. You've got no reason to be distrusting of me."
Neno clawed at the wolf's nose. "Get out of my face, Joen! You're not my boss, my Mama is!"
Joen let out a terrifying growl, "I'm your sitter, and that's close enough to your mother. But, I've go to admit, you'e mother's a smart little kitty."
Neno tilted his head. "How's my mama smart?"
"She's got one more reason to be distrusting of me after today. . ."
Neno was about to ask what that meant, when Joen grabbed him by the scruff. He thought that they were going back to camp, but was growing even more scared when she was heading towards the edge, and dropped him on the ledge. He screamed, claws grasping at the rock. Joen looked only mildly upset.
"Joen, help me up! Help me back up!" he cried, his small claws already slipping. But the wolf just walked away. "Joen, help me! Don't leave me here!" The kitten's eyes filled with hot tears, terrified that he would't be able to get up. He tried to use his rear legs to push himself up, scraping wildly at the cliff. The rock gave away under his claws, and Neno screamed with terror, tears getting blown away from his eyes as he fell. He hit the rock with a sickening crack, his little body falling limp. The tears that hadn't been blown away in the wind as he had fallen slowly began to stream down his cheek, suggesting he might still live.
But no. The little kitten was dead, the first life to be taken of many to come.
Now you know how Neno came to be, why he died so young. It was unfair, and the wolves didn't even win the war. But Neno was forever in his mother's broken heart.
