• Mortimer's birthplace is the Highlands Kingdom, and this place is all he's known. Through wars, his interest in the doctoral field increased, as most went for the rather violent positions.
• Although shy, Mortimer has a sharp tongue when verbally fighting.
• He's often scared of anybody taller or of a higher power than him, though he mostly hides this by being sarcastic.
• When he gets to talk about things he truly likes or is passionate about, it's almost as if he forgets he was ever shy.
• Whenever he meets new people, he fears they will leave him, leading to being overly clingy or protective.
• He has severe depression and anxiety, though can handle it most of the time.

Ages newborn to four years old.
When he was a newborn to his elven parents, Mortimer was a sweet little child that they always wanted and adored. He was happy, and his mother and father always ensured he was taken care of and looked after. His mother was stay-at-home whilst his father was an exceptional knight. For a while, it seemed like his life was going to be just as healthy and fully lived as any other child's--that is, until his parents had split apart. Most of his memories as a child consisted of happy ones, but as he neared the age of four, the scene was clear.
He remembered when he was sat down by his mother and father while they exchanged uncertain looks. They didn't know how to word it. But, his father had spoken up and said, "Mommy and daddy can't live together anymore." His mother nodded and added, "It's just better this way, and daddy is going to be living somewhere else. You can visit him anytime, he just won't be here." But, being such a young age, little Mortie didn't fully understand he could visit his father. Instead, all he knew was he was leaving. The man he loved, the man he looked up to and always wanted to grow up to be, was now leaving his life. In truth, this was what lead up to his abandonment issues and constant need for somebody to take care of him, even if he could very well survive on his own.
Ages five years old to twelve years old.
After his parents had split up, Mortimer spent his days quietly. He didn't talk as much as he used to, although he did exceptionally in school. He tried to help his mother when possible, despite her becoming verbally abusive to the small boy. This lead to more of his eventual mental issues, not just his parents splitting.
As he grew older, though, little Mortimer began to explore a little more when it came to his personal life. At the age of eleven, he began to figure he felt attraction toward other men--at twelve, he thought he found his first love. But of course, everybody knows how twelve year olds are--it's not actually love. He just felt like he needed somebody, someone to hold him while his family refused to do so. Within this little relationship, though, he figured out what it meant to "be in love". This included the hugging, the kisses, and everything couples do that are similar to family, but at the same time different in its own ways. There were different feelings associated with it, and different circumstances. But he didn't know what it truly meant to love somebody, other than his parents.
Mortimer's little relationship didn't last long at all. He got his heart broken when he saw his boyfriend flirting with other people, leaving him in the dust--all this reminded him of was how his father left his mother. It shattered him, despite it being just a silly little relationship that was assumed to not be that serious. It was then that he promised himself he wouldn't fall in love again.
Ages thirteen to now.
When he turned thirteen, he still mentally kept his vow to keep to himself from then on. Such a small thing meant a lot to Mortie, as it was all too familiar to his father and how he left his mother--it was also then he realized why she acted the way she did. Why she had her outbursts, why she would have breakdowns that lead her son to comfort her to the best of his abilities. It explained why he couldn't always help, why he couldn't always fix the problem. He understood his mother's pain.
Others would tell Mortimer that his little promise didn't mean much, and he would forget about it or even go around it and date somebody new. This was never the case. Mortimer kept this promise all the way up to his nineteenth year on the earth, as it is his current age. Whenever he caught feelings before, he would tell himself to not follow it--it was something that could not be trusted no matter how tempted it seemed. No matter how seducing the guy was, no matter how sweet his words were, no matter the promises--no man was going to change his mind. So far, this has kept a good streak for him, and he's gotten over most of the misery of his childhood. In small ways it still haunts him, still lurks within him. This shows as, the more he works with Valence, he gets more attached to the incubus and gets more on edge depending on the particular situation. Occasionally, he would wonder if what he felt was infatuation with the demon, but he tried to quickly disregard it as mere lust. He is a sex demon, after all, who wouldn't feel attracted? This didn't deter him though, as he would still remind of himself of those two times in his life: his father leaving, and his first love shattering his happiness and hope. Sometimes little thoughts tell him he shouldn't be taking it to heart so much, but in a way he knew that this was just as serious as it felt. It was something he felt, it was something that was still on his mind.
